¡ Viva Mexico si, señor !

One of the most beautiful and interesting places to visit in Mexico is, without a doubt, Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Set in the Banderas Bay, the 2nd biggest bay in the world, with the incredible Sierra Madre Mountains as a backdrop Puerto Vallarta, or PV as the locals call it, is truly stunning!

Puerto Vallarta has earned many awards over the last few years, including the world’s friendliest city awarded by the famous travel magazine, Conde’ Nest Traveller, and it is recognition that is very well deserved! In addition to the warm and friendly locals, PV is a land full of rich heritage and culture, delicious cuisine, exciting tours and activities, and beautiful beaches. It has grown from a quaint, sleepy fishing village to an incredible internationally-renowned destination that now offers something for everyone.

One of our staff members lived for many years in Vallarta and has the following insider’s recommendations that you definitely should not miss when you visit PV…

• Swim with the dolphins. An experience of a lifetime.
• Visit the 300+ year-old mining town of San Sebastian del Oeste located a short one-hour drive from Vallarta in the beautiful Sierra Madre Mountains. See Mexico as it was hundreds of years ago.
• Visit the amazing beaches of Yelapa, Las Animas, Caletas, Destiladeras, Punta de Mita, San Pancho, or Sayulita (the funky surf town!).
• The Botanical Gardens. An amazing 25-acre site with a myriad of gorgeous tropical plants 30 minutes south of Vallarta.
• Check out any special events or festivals going on during your visit. Mexicans love to celebrate and there is always something happening that shouldn’t be missed.
• Stroll the Malecon (boardwalk) downtown. Mingle with the locals; buy an ice cream cone, or fresh corn on the cob. Enjoy the eclectic street entertainers, then on Sundays dance the night away under the stars in the main square downtown, usually after 7:00 pm.
  
• Enjoy one of the fantastic boat cruises that offer excursions to some of the most beautiful beaches in the area, such as Caletas by day. Keep your eyes on the water to catch whales and dolphins in the wild.
• Be adventurous and enjoy the amazing cuisine of Mexico. Try the locals’ favourites: tacos El Jefe in Olas Altas (old town) for the best steak tacos and fresh homemade salsas in town. Open from around 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. Also try Barracuda two blocks from downtown, offering great shrimp tacos, fish dishes and shrimp platters at excellent prices — right on the beach!
